Break Point

It has been two years since I started watching tennis. I debuted [watching] at the 2008 Wimbledon where the epic Nadal-Federer final took place.

I became a big fan (I think) of the sport since then. I regularly watch all 4 grand slam tournaments (on the TV, of course) and some televised games and I learned almost everything about the sport by just watching. I subscribe to tennis news and stuff online. I even took a tennis class (PE) last school year.

I also became a Roger Federer fan. It’s not just because he’s No. 1 during that time. He plays great. I cheer like I’m watching him on site. I feel sad when he loses. One time I even stayed up till 4am just to watch his game even with an 8:30 am class. And with his recent Wimbledon quarterfinal loss, it makes me think “Hey, Federer is losing. I’m hating this sport”

Yes, I may hate it for a day or two. But at the end of the day, my love for this sport will still  prevail.

Lastly, there’s one thing that I learned from tennis. Don’t give up the ship. Yeah, it may be 00-40 but I still have to serve. I may be able to fire down three aces and make it even and then reverse the tables. Or I may lose. Who knows. And who cares. Maybe, it’s not just my day. I can always try again tomorrow.
